Davidson Car Service

Between the airport, the college, and the neighborhoods along Lake Norman, a trip to Davidson often involves more than one stop. Traffic on I-77 can affect arrival times, especially when families are heading to campus for orientation or commencement. With our Davidson car service, we connect these stops through private, prearranged rides, so you can keep your attention on the visit rather than the road.

You give us the first address and the last one. We cover the driving in between, and you can reach our office at any hour.

From Your Gate at CLT to Davidson

We meet your flight inside baggage claim or at the curb, whichever you choose when you book. Baggage claim works well if Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is new to you, and the curb is quicker when you only have a carry-on.

From the terminal, we head for I-77, which has toll express lanes between uptown Charlotte and Exit 36 in Mooresville. When the regular lanes back up, we can switch to them and add the toll to your final invoice. The drive covers about 26 miles and takes around 30 minutes in light traffic. We leave I-77 at Exit 30, then follow Griffith Street into town.

Davidson College Days, Start to Finish

Davidson College dates back to 1837, and its calendar sets the dates for several trips we can arrange in town. In August, we can bring first-year students and their parents to orientation, the week before classes. For commencement in May, we confirm the ceremony location before arranging your family’s drop-off. It normally takes place on Front Campus, but rain can move it to John M. Belk Arena. Knowing the final location helps us coordinate your arrival with the college’s event-day access arrangements.

You might live several states away. The thought of your student alone in a stranger’s vehicle before a 6 a.m. flight can worry you more than the flight. By the time your student gets in, here is what you can know about the chauffeur:

  • When you book the trip yourself, you receive the chauffeur’s name and number ahead of time.
  • Our chauffeurs are employees and hold a Passenger Vehicle for Hire permit issued through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
  • To issue that permit, the department requires fingerprints, a national criminal record check, and a drug test.
  • Our chauffeurs complete National Safety Council defensive driving training as part of their professional preparation.

We follow the fleet by Samsara GPS, so you can call our office during the drive to ask how far along it is. Campus clubs and sports teams can also book trips around the academic calendar with us, such as an awards banquet or an academic competition elsewhere.

A Small-Town Night Out in Davidson

An evening out here can be small and close by, with most of downtown’s shops and restaurants within a few blocks of each other. Armour Street Theatre opened in 2008 as the first permanent home of the Davidson Community Players. It has just over 100 seats, so every row sits close to the stage.

Downtown, Kindred serves dinner in a former pharmacy building, and it appears in the Michelin Guide. Freshly baked milk bread arrives as soon as you sit down, and the menu is mostly Italian, with a Southern touch. We suggest reserving your table first, then sending us the time. Diners use curbside parking nearby.

For an evening of dinner and theater, we set the hour we arrive at your door from two times. One is your table at Kindred, and the other is the theater curtain. After the last bow, we drive you home, and neither stop requires a parking search.

Three Vehicles for Three Davidson Days

Each vehicle from our fleet matches a different kind of day:

  • For a commencement weekend with parents, friends, or a graduate’s siblings along, our GMC Yukon Denali seats seven and takes seven bags. On a cool May morning, you can turn on the heated front and second-row seats.
  • After you land at the airport, the two of you each get your own climate zone in the back of our 2025 Volvo S90. The panoramic moonroof lets in daylight all the way to Exit 30.
  • For a family reunion at a rental house on Lake Norman, we can bring two dozen relatives into town together in our Minibus for 28 passengers. Overhead lighting helps everyone find their belongings after dark, and high-back reclining seats let them lean back on the late drive home.

We have Wi-Fi in all three, so you can answer messages or send photos of the day to anyone who could not come.

Your Weekend, and Where Our Davidson Limo Service Fits

On summer evenings, boats come in off Lake Norman as the porch lights come on. We at A Step Above Limousine Service have been on the road for evenings like these since 2007, in Charlotte and the 50 miles around it. What is the next date you need covered? Whatever it is, we arrange our Davidson limo service around it.

Before you book, it can help to hear from someone who already has, so here is what one client wrote on Google: “Todd and Ambi were fantastic! Early to pick us up, right on time to pick us up. Professional, friendly… the bus was clean, modern, and a smooth ride. The perfect way for our work group to travel. We’ll definitely use again!” (Cherie M.)

You can share the date and group size in our quote form, and we reply with a price and a suggested vehicle. For any questions before then, you can call us at (704) 605-1108 or write to info@astepabovelimo.com.
